Diversions in Upper-Meuse

Although we sometimes may lack somewhat more sunshine, our region bursts of treasures like bucolic valleys, historic castles and fortresses, breathtaking lanscapes, natural sites, ancient buildings and famous gastronomy.

Day Tour nr 1:
Our daytour will take you to the discovery of these treasures in a pleasant yet interesting way by taking you to:
- the northern Meuse valley: Bouvignes and the ruins of Crèvecoeur,
- the Molignée valley: Warnant, the snailfarm, the ruins of Montaigle, Maredsous (with free time and possibility to taste their abbey bread & cheese with a beer) and Maredret,
- the southern Meuse valley: Anthée, Miavoye, Hastière, Waulsort, Freÿr, Dinant, Falmignoul (breathtaking vue on the valley and tasting of 4 different beers at the Caracole brewery),
- the Lesse valley: Vêves and Celles (one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Wallonia),
- return to Dinant via the Charlemagne viaduct (with "helicopter" view on Dinant).


Day Tour nr 2:
In the morning: guided tour of the splendid Gardens of Annevoie, Major Inheritance of Wallonia. During the walk you will discover the rivers, fountains and cascades that flow through the garden.

Towards 13h00 you will embark for a guided rivercruise on the Meuse, from Dinant to the Castle of Freÿr, with its air of Versailles, and return. A buffet (or meal, if you prefer) on board is at your disposal while you admire the panorama of the valley.

As of your return to quay, you will take the cable car to reach the imposing Citadelle perched on its rock. During the guided tour, you will also discover the splendid view from above on Dinant and its valley.
And, last but not least, you will visit a local brewery, where the guide will reveal you the trade secrets of beer and will invite you to a beer tasting.


Day Tour nr 3:
09:00   leave Dinant (railway station), via the Abbey of Leffe
09:30 - 10:30  enter & visit the splendid gardens of the Château d' Annevoie
10:30 - 11:00  return to Dinant, via Bouvignes
11:00 - 12:00  enter & visit the Citadel in Dinant (with panoramic view over Dinant)
12:15 - 13:45  lunch in Dinant restaurant (table with view over the river)
14:00 - 14:15  "helicopter view" on Château de Freÿr and french gardens
14:30 - 15:30  enter & visit Château de Vêves
15:30 - 16:00  short stop in Celles
16:30 - 17:30  enter & visit Château de Lavaux-Sainte-Anne
17:30 - (about) 18:00  return to Dinant (railway station), via the Charlemagne Viaduct.

For those who, unfortunately, have a tight timing, we can suggest a half day tour, allowing to discover one or two points of their interest. Many combinations are possible: Annevoie, Vêves, Freÿr, ...  You name it. We'll arrange it. Example:

13:10 - 14:10  Visit of Château d'Annevoie gardens
14:40 - 15:40  Visit of Château de Vêves
16:00                Arrival Dinant (station)
