Tourism - The Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge The Ardennes, winter '44. Already more than 60 years ago, and still so present ... A tribute to all these young men who perished fighting for the freedom we enjoy today. Description of our one day program: We leave Dinant and pass by the rocher Bayard where an engraved stone indicates the place where three German soldiers, driving an American Jeep and dressed in American uniforms, jumped on a mine. It is the closest point to the Meuse reached by the Germans during the Offensive of the Ardennes. At the Celles crossroad we will also see a tank of the 2e Panzer Division. We drive then towards Bastogne via La Roche-en-Ardenne, almost destroyed by Allied bombardments, at the cost of many civil lifes. Arriving at the Mardasson, we meet our guide, specialist in the Battle of the Bulge. After the visit of the Memorial and crypt, we set out again for a guided battle field tour of approximately 2 hrs, visiting Bizory - Bois de la Paix - Bois Jacques - Foy - Noville - Recogne - Boggess Fort - Patton Memorial. We return to the Mardasson, where we also visit the Bastogne Historical Center (BHC) before driving to Dinant. ---------- Looking for an in-depth program over 2 (or more) days ? Malmedy massacre memorial) - Check-in to hotel in Bastogne Day 2: Bastogne - The northern perimeter (including Band of Brothers sites and foxholes): Foy, Recogne, Bois Jacques, Noville.
